Who we are:

Using this website

The content of this site is provided for general information. It describes the coaching services available and is not advice on your particular situation.
We aim to keep the site accurate and available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors. We may change or withdraw content at any time.

What coaching is, and what it is not

Coaching is a collaborative process focused on your current situation and the direction you want to take. It creates space to think clearly, gain perspective, and act.

Coaching is not therapy, counselling, or medical treatment. It does not involve diagnosing or treating mental health conditions, and it is not a substitute for medical or psychological care.

Carl Taylor is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and an EMCC Senior Practitioner Coach. That psychological background informs how the coaching works, but coaching engagements are not clinical services and are not provided in a clinical capacity.

If something arises during coaching that would be better supported by therapy, medical advice, or another service, we will discuss it with you and may suggest alternatives.

Enquiries and discovery calls

Making an enquiry or booking a free discovery call does not create a coaching agreement. A discovery call is a conversation to establish whether coaching is likely to be useful and whether we are a good fit.

We may decline to take on a piece of work if we judge that coaching is not appropriate, or that another service would serve you better. Where that happens we will say so clearly and, where we can, suggest alternatives.

Coaching engagements

If you decide to go ahead, you will be issued with a separate coaching agreement before the work begins. That agreement sets out the specific arrangements: the number and length of sessions, how they will be delivered, fees, cancellation terms, confidentiality, and the basis of the work.

The coaching agreement governs the coaching itself. Where anything in it differs from these website terms, the coaching agreement applies. These terms cover the use of this website and the general position before an engagement is agreed.

Sections of these terms that do not depend on an engagement, including those covering use of this website, intellectual property, and links to other sites, continue to apply alongside any coaching agreement.

Fees and payment

Current fees are set out at on the services page, fees are quoted in pounds sterling.

Invoices are issued in advance of each session and payment is required before the session takes place, unless agreed otherwise in writing.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please give at least 72 hours’ notice. With sufficient notice, the session can be rearranged at no cost.

For cancellations with less than 72 hours’ notice, or if you do not attend, the full session fee is payable. The time has been reserved for you and cannot usually be reallocated at short notice.

If we need to reschedule, we will give as much notice as possible and work with you to find an alternative time.

Confidentiality

Coaching conversations are confidential. Information is not shared unless you consent, or we are required to do so by law, or there is a serious risk of harm.

Aspects of the work may be discussed in professional supervision, without identifying you.

How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy.

Coaching is provided in line with the EMCC Global Code of Ethics. We hold professional indemnity insurance and take part in regular supervision and continuing professional development.

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the coaching or from your use of this website is limited to the fees you have paid for the work in question.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
